I, I looked at it on a map and I said, "Hey, Chewy, can we stay in Decorah on Friday night and go over there and do that event on, uh, Saturday at 2:00 PM?" And he said, "That sounds like a really good idea."

little rundown on the event so that people, if they wanted to go to f- you know, North Central Iowa for a kick-ass clunker get-together, what, what can people expect? I- it's not the first year you've done it, right?

So this is the third a- annual May Day Mayhem. The event was inspired by, um, you know, I saw that Clunkers documentary.

You know Fisher, Kelly and Breeze, how they were in San Francisco flying down these hills- Mm-hmm... and repacking at the bottom, and it was insanity.

And, and, uh, like I stumbled o- across that, that documentary and I was like, "God, we, we should do an event like to celebrate, you know, how this all started." And, uh, so that's kinda how it began.

And then, then my buddy Joe and I got really excited about building up some old Schwinn's. I have a '39 Pre-War. I put like sunrise bars on and I built up and it's, it's pretty sweet. Hmm. And, uh,

so we, we decided to do this event and, um, it's, it's been pretty good. You know, it's a lot of fun. It, it's a race in quotations. Mm-hmm. It's not like, uh- Exactly the kind of stuff-... Supercross, but uh...

yeah, exactly the kinda stuff we like to do. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. It, it's just, it's just another different theme for a, a fun ride.

We have several rides throughout the year that are themed differently, and this, this one just celebrates the beginning of everything. And, uh, this year it's on May 6th.

We do it on the first, you know, Saturday of the month and, and, uh, we're... You know, bring, bring anything, man.

Like, seriously, you know, we love the old Pre-War stuff or, you know, like, uh, vintage mountain bikes from the '80s and '90s or department store stuff.

Last year we did our full single track run and it was a little bit too long and people got too spread out.

So this year what we're gonna do is all our rides leave from Limestone Brewers, at our brewery, um, and return there because we're smart.

And, uh, so we'll leave from there, we'll do a group, casual group ride out to our, our farthest away single track loop, which is called Junkyard Goat.

It was an old junkyard back in the day and there's different like old car parts we've drug out and, and laid ac- around, you know, offside of the trail. So it's- Oh, jungle cross... it's pretty, uh, visually cool.

So we'll go out there, do a casual ride out there, and then we're gonna, um, do a, uh, a site lap and then a couple laps on there for the actual race, and then we'll come back to the brewery and, uh, hand out...

I've got first, second and third trophies with cash prizes, and then we'll do a skid mark contest- Oh, yeah... uh, back at the brewery. Is that coaster brake only or can you do a- Yeah...

You know, I'm only, been at this for six or seven years now. I, you know, Levis, Cayuna, a l- I just l- fell in love with biking, and, uh, just couldn't get enough of it.

And in 2019, I decided maybe we should have some trails here, and we could do it along the Cedar River. We've got some elevation. You know, for Iowa it's not much, but it's some.

And so we started, uh, put a group together, Mitchell County Mountain Goats, and started to, uh, to build trail by hand, and a lot of grassroots efforts.

We've got around five miles of single track currently, and single track and double track combined, you can ride up the river, up to Mitchell and back, and get about- Nice... 20 miles in right now.
