A little fat bike urban ride around Milwaukee, uh, with the Surly demo fleet and Aaron and that manner of such, but we'll get into that a little bit with Aaron a little later. Uh, cripes on ads windy out there today.

[laughs] Oh, yes it is. That's an understatement. Very blustery Pooh Bears. I didn't ride very far today, but I also didn't have to pedal very much. Thank you, wind. [laughs] Yep.

I got downtown on my way into work this morning and you literally couldn't tell which way the wind was blowing because of the buildings- Oh, yeah... but it was always blowing. Oh, yeah.

Yeah, it can whip around those buildings pretty good down there. Oh, lord. Yeah. Yeah. That's how it was over at campus and- Mm-hmm.

There was things rattling on my house and on this building where the shop is that I didn't know could be moved- Right [laughs]... by wind. Us, too. [laughs] Did you go by your, your new crib yet? Check on the house?

[laughs] That's when, when I was in staying in Kansas a few years back, I stay in the, the, the mayor's family's house, which is, like, seven miles outside of town and they don't live in it anymore, but it was, like, the ancestral home and it's, like, 24-inch thick limestone.

And there was a tornado that night, and I was the only one in the house. Yeah. And I'm like, "Well, this thing's been here over, well over 100 years." It'll probably still be. It'll probably still be here tomorrow.

That's just a terrible have s- situation to be in, 'cause boy, that man makes a sammich. So I, I rode with some folks I don't normally ride with on the pie ride on Sunday. All right. Yeah. I like that.

That was pretty interesting. I mean, it was some of the Critical Mass crew, but not as concentrated a bunch of people as th- that was.

Um, Evan from Vulture Space set this thing up, I think, or I don't know how it works, but, um, basically you... It's sort of like a Friendsgiving with pie. Yeah. How many pies did Annie make this year? I didn't...

I don't know. I didn't see her. Um- Really? Oh. But w- we stopped at L- uh, Liz's house first, and there were six, five, six pies and some quiche there.

And, and then we went to, uh, for some reason, we went to the, what's that bar out on State Street? Um- Narrow that down. [laughs] Yeah, like 68th or 70th and State. Uh. It's right on a corner. It's a big place. Yeah.

And then we went to another dude's house in Washington Heights, and there was a bunch of pie there and some really good chili. Nice.

And it ended right around the corner here at Nathan's house that's actually an old bar, which still has the bar in it. It is the c- Nice. [laughs] Oh, it's the coolest place in the world. Which one is that?

On the corner? It, it's, it used to be called Suds, I guess. It's, like, right across the street from Scardino's. It is. Okay. Yeah. I've always wondered if the bar was still in that place. It's still in there.

And I- It's got a spiral staircase from the second to the third story. Yeah, I don't know. I think that's more apartments up there. Ah. And it, it has just, like, one, one almost bedroom and then the bar.

It's su- Nice [laughs]... super kickass. I thought how c- I, I always wanted to live in an old bar like that. Yeah, that'd be badass.

I'd like to have been there when it was a bar, bought it, lived in it, and then opened it as a bar again 20 years later. That'd be a great idea. Or something like that.

Speaking of bars, it's not really a bar, it's a brewery, but I went to the, uh, the tasting room for, uh, the Minneapolis Brewing Company. Indeed? Indeed. Indeed. Indeed. Have you been in there? Indeed.

Have you been in there? They have done an absolutely spectacular job of that building. I was in there- Yeah, I was on Second Street? Yeah. Yeah. I was in there- No... but my eyes were more in the line for the bathroom.

You, you walk into it, and the brewery is up front, and then you walk down this long hallway and it opens into this just incredibly beautiful space.

I guess it's really loud when there's a lot of people, but You know, the, the beer selection was incredible. And, uh, if you have a Bike Benefits sticker, which I proudly displayed, I got a buck off every pint.

And I had a couple of pints and shot the bull with the guy who just moved here and said, "Wow, people from Wisconsin are really friendly." Right. Like, yep. [laughs] Is it... Uh, are they actually brewing there?

Uh, there's a lot of tanks there. I don't know if they're brewing yet- All right... but they're certainly ramping up to. Nice. That's cool. Yeah. More breweries is better. Yeah, as long as they're good breweries.

Um, we're gonna do a fat bike ride around Milwaukee, and part of the impetus to it was Aaron coming to town and bringing Steel Force One with some demo bikes.

I've ridden them both now back to back, um, models, so it's, it's, it's kinda cool to A and B those two and see how they both interact a little differently on, on, on the trail and on the, on the snow and ice and whatnot.

Like, like, that's the, the beauty of these bikes and this climate is that they're so versatile on like, you know, a single track and urban riding, you know, commuting, um, beach riding.

And I, I know I've heard so many stories and I've been on a bunch of rides in Milwaukee and like it's such a cool town to ride bike in.

And, you know, Zito's took me or taking me around a bunch of nights, just, you know, showing me all the different little, you know, single tracks and like cool history about the city. It, it, it's...

I think one of the things about this route is it's pretty much a little bit of everything, and it's, I just think it's cool that in a city like Milwaukee, as big as it is, you can find these little pockets of kind of nature in the middle of it.

But then, so those big events get priority, and then we fill, then Trevor and I fill in the blanks. And Trevor's also taking on international, um, travel as well, so that's a whole nother world for him.

So, um, um, you know, we're, we're in kind of a transition period of, like, like, how the van gets spread around the country and, you know, he's been super cool with me, um, you know, since I've been kinda going after it, he's been giving me kind of the green light to take the van when I want, but yeah, that thing, that thing gets all over the place.

Um, one thing I'm curious about, and you can maybe fill in the East Coast side of stuff, uh, maybe we'll get Trevor on the show to kind of, uh, talk about the West Coast side of stuff, but, um, I, I don't see, at least when I was out west, I saw very few fat bikes on the beaches, and I don't know what you're seeing on the East Coast.
