So heckina, it's, well, it's been a couple weeks and a lot of stuff going on. Summer's dwindling down. Who, who wants to, who wants to lead off with what they've been doing on their motorbikeles?

I, I will start with being silly enough to go on this thing called the Tour de Towner on this past Sunday. That was pretty good. [laughs] That was a, um, that was an entertaining ride. I'm just gonna leave it at that.

There was a light siding. There was a light siding. [laughs] Well, I like that we have dragged a couple out of a comfort zone. 'Cause normally it was A to B, almost like a race to get to the falls.

[laughs] For, for those people that don't know about the Thursday Fox, if you're looking for a really nice, casual, short ride, the Thursday Fox is fantastic.

You just get on the oakleaf, you get to Brown Deer, you look to your left, there's a bar. Yep. It's got cheap beers. Yeah. Sit down, enjoy a beer or two, ride home. Yeah. It's about like seven- It's a great getaway.

It's absolutely. U- u- using, using the Riverwest imprint, boom, it's about seven miles. Seven miles. And mellow. 14-minute round trip, yeah.

Right on. No, that was cool. No, yeah? Or yeah, no? So this- Okay... this ride happens in Milwaukee every Sunday before either Memorial Day or Labor Day. Exactly. 18th, so this is the ninth year. I was doing math. Yeah.

Tony wanted to talk about how San Miguel bought out, uh- Founders... Founders. And Founders was what? The fifth largest- Four- 14th... 14th largest brewery in the United States.

Biggest in Michigan, and I had no idea they were the 14th- No... in the country. And now they're owned by the Spaniards. Something tells me- So it's an import?... their beer will still be delicious.

Hey- So Michigan beer- Just, just-... is an import? I remember this. This was- Just so you guys, just- This was in, like, the South African thing, uh, the- It, Miller... uh, Miller.

I was just up riding and, uh, working on my waterfall route, uh, trying to do recon and, uh, which has been like a, a, a very long project. [laughs] It's now 400 miles.

And, uh, and on the 24th, Tom Schuler of 7-Eleven fame, uh, Tom and I are gonna go ride, ride the entire route.

So I've reconned all the little sections and, and, uh, the last time I was up there, uh, I was up there and I, I, on the way back through, uh, south, I stopped at Tribute Brewing in Eagle River and, uh, and got some of their, uh, delicious Blueberry Train wheat ale.

This is good. This is tasty. Yeah. It's, it's very good. Was, uh, was Tom Directeur des Sportifs? He raced. He was one, actually one of the founders of the, of the, um, 7-Eleven team. So- Oh, did he...

So was- Him and, him and Jim Ochowicz, it was- Right... sort of their idea, and then they went out and rounded up the riders. And Tom raced as well, so Tom's- Okay. So he was- Tom's-...

with Andy Hampsten and all those guys. Yeah. And, and To- and, and Bob Roll and, and all, yeah. And Michael Fatca was actually the team leader, I believe, the director.

Alex Ziga and, um, and, uh, Tom is actually, like, Tom's a great person to go on long rides with because he's got lots of stories.

And, um, one of my favorites is when he was in, uh, I think the Giro, he was racing in Giro, and, um, Bernard Hinault was taking a natural break, um, so peeing off his bike.

[laughs] And Tom thought he was doing him a favor by riding up behind him and was gonna help push him along while the, while Bernard, you know, took his natural break.

And Bernard turned around and looked at him very politely, I guess, and said, "Yeah, we don't do that in the pro peloton." [laughs] [laughs] We don't touch people's bums here. No, no bum touching.

But so I, I'm going with Tom and potentially, um, uh, a buddy of mine from, uh, Madison who, uh, who runs the, um, Trips for Kids, um, and, uh, um, Wheels for Winners, stuff that gives out bikes in, in Madison.

So is Tom still doing the, the, the, the cycling races around Wisconsin? He's one of the, the partners in the Tour of America's Dairyland- Right on... as well as the Intelligentsia Cup.

He also runs, uh, a race in Detroit. He's originally from Michigan, um, so he runs a- We're not gonna hold that against him... he runs a race in Detroit. What with this Founders sale and all. Um, I should- Yeah.

No, you- so Michael Fatka was, I believe, one of-- he was the coach or the team leader or whatever I don't know that name... and he owned a place in, uh, Ames, Iowa called, uh, Michael's Cyclery, believe it or not.

And it was all-- I think Andy Hampsten put money into it, because this thing was in the middle of Ames, which, I don't know, it's a college town, but it's not a humongous college town. Right.

And this was the most beautiful bike shop I've ever seen. Huh.

Uh, I was traveling on the road, being a rep selling, you know, bike parts to bike shops, and I'm always like, "I gotta go through there," 'cause they have so much cool stuff in there. Nice.

They've got a, a beer party, and they've got a raffle with, like, four or five, like, uh, really high-end s- full suspension bikes.

So, um, and, uh, they, they keep hinting about this other bigger raffle that they've got, and they won't quite tell you what it is because they haven't got it 100% locked down.

But I've been up there recently, and I've been hanging out with, like, Ben Welnak and Joe Vadumancur and other people from the Sh- Schwamagen Mountain Bike Association board, and I believe it's a pickup truck raffle.

We checked out the ranch, uh, Rocky Hill Ranch in Smithville, which is about a hour, 45 minutes, hour outside of Austin, and that's where the event is gonna be. Um- Did the-...

There, there's a place two hours north of Las Vegas, which, you know what? There's nothing there, and this guy built a beautiful mountain bike area, and, and actually, people go there 'cause it's great. But, you know.

The second Funduro was the Funduro Rodeo at Silver Lake Park, and that's where we had a friend of mine, uh, Scott Beers, do his, uh, classic country, because it, uh, went along with the theme.

Um, I'll also like to point out that I won the goat roping trophy, so. [laughs] Yes, that was very, uh, very impressive of your goat roping prowess. [laughs] Yeah.

Uh, and then our third Grand Funduro, uh, the one we were talking about in November, um, that's going to be a DJ party. So that's gonna be put on your cocktail clothes and shake what your mama gave you.

There'll be Hammerschlagen, and there, um, the area of, uh, we'll be using will most likely be that campground, remember, where we've done a couple of, uh, camping events in the past.

Um, because it's empty, they said that'd be the best spot to lay out the racecourse, and I think it could be a really cool course set up through that campground. So that'll be really fun. Right on.
