It's the, uh, the 28th today, of November, just past the Thanksgiving weekend. And all the festivities therein. Wooey. Yes, it was a, uh, it was a festive Thanksgiving. What'd you do?

[smacks lips] Uh, successfully smoked a turkey, under slight duress. There was a, an oven panic at the house that it may not have worked. [laughs] Oh, I see. So follow up and just rely on that, so.

So you did the, the pre-smoke and then just, uh, heated it a little bit more in the oven? Uh, no, no. Oh. It wa- it was all smoker. Oh, right on. But- Cool...

yeah, the oven, the oven was having an issue so, uh- Copied it... I was like, it, my hand was forced. I was gonna do it anyways, but I couldn't screw up. [laughs] Yeah, no.

Uh, my, my brother-in-law smoked one too on a grill, so I, maybe that's the in thing now where- Yeah... it used to be frying a turkey- Same, same, same principle... yeah, now it's smoking a turkey. Yeah.

I mean- I mean, it just took all day long. I mean, I woke up at, uh, 4:20 y'all, and then got the coals up to temp by 5:00 and, and I think around 4 o'clock is when I pulled it off.

Wow, that was a full, a full 12-hour bird. Yeah. Or close to it. Yep, yep, yep. Yeah. Good on. Kept me busy. [laughs] So, uh, w- we're back in front of the microphones again with the studio set up in the shop now.

And he said, "Well, you know, in a couple of weeks I'm just gonna be riding up to Minocqua on it," which, I mean, from Milwaukee to Minocqua's 250 miles maybe? It's- Mm. I don't even wanna drive it. It's like a...

No, it's like a five or six-hour drive in a car. Yeah, yeah. And, um, he's, he's preparing to do Arrowhead or some qualifier for I- for the Iditarod. He wants to do the Iditarod.

And he'd done the, um, Great Divide race on it this year, but with 29er wheels i- instead of the fat bike wheels, and loaded down and said he had a great time, so. Yeah, yeah.

glad we finally got to talk about that. Yeah. [laughs] Right. So, uh, I don't know. Uh, there's a bunch of stuff having had gone on or going on coming up, um, both cycling and non-cycling here in Milwaukee.

Uh, non-cycling we could get out of the way quick. [laughs] How come you didn't come to the Vordas show? I was tired. Oh, man. I mean, I barely made it all the way after the, uh, Jungle Cross. Oh, yeah.

We'll talk about Jungle Cross in a sec. I forgot that was the same night. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. That day just seemed like that was the next day or something. No, it just kept going and I, uh, I was, I was just...

I, I could have made it there, but the, I, I would've just collapsed probably. No, there's, there were not many people there surprisingly the night before when we went. So we would've been very noticeable.

[laughs] Well, when we went the night before to the Vordas show, which actually was the following day- [laughs]... um, it was pretty packed, and this was less packed than that.

So James and I went there and, um, I don't know, if you're in Milwaukee and they show up, see them. Uh, I think they're mostly Chicago oriented, but um, they put on a 45-minute set that just never stops.

It's true old punk rock style. Um, just blast right through, you know, one minute to four minute songs and, and just power right into the next one and I, I totally appreciate that kind of show. Yeah.

I, I regret not going to it, but I knew that there were avatars going in my stead. Yeah. [laughs] So I could get a report.

So, um, Jungle Cross was just before that apparently, even though I thought that was the day before. [laughs] Right. [laughs] Yes. Yeah. I- Jungle Cross was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, isn't it?

Right, on the afternoon before the Vordas show. [laughs] So Jungle Cross turned out really well. I was surprised actually at the turnout because, um, it did-- We didn't really throw a bunch of stuff out there.

Zito obviously has a big following, so if he says he's doing something, people will usually show up 'cause they know it's gonna be a good time. But, um, the weather wasn't the best either. No.

And I know the cyclocross, uh, you know, those people like to torture themselves. [laughs] But, um, I think some of them were, I mean, surprised.

It was just a, it was like 40 degrees, so what had been frozen for the last few days before that wasn't frozen so much. And overnight there was a minor rain event- Yes... for a few hours- Yeah...

that just kind of gave a good soak on everything. Right. So it was just peanut butter everywhere. Peanut butter. Yeah. And it's a very clay oriented, uh, soil there.

But that said, I think, I don't know, there was like 38 racers or something like that. Yep. So it was, you know...

And there was another, at least that many spectators, because quite a few volunteers and/or spectators were there to cheer on the, the racers.

So I think, uh- With my arm raised, I was, you know, volunteer heckler/human berm- Yeah, director of traffic... and director, director of figure eight-ing. Char- char- gendarme on the- [laughs]...

on the, in the middle of the intersection. I know. I was, I was getting some pirouettes in. It was, I was getting laughed at a lot. I could see from about 20 yards away, like, "Ah, I know.

I'm just trying to do my job here." So, uh, props to Zito for pulling that one off. Yeah. It was, uh- It worked out. Dave, um- He d- he, he got a bunch of us to go help build it and, uh, got some people there to race and

got, uh, Sprecher to sponsor some beer and Great Lakes Distillery to sponsor some whiskey for the- Mm-hmm... for the rehorse drives. Rehorse rise. And then, um, and Surly gave up some stuff for prizes.

I got my Surly Do Not Arrest This Person koozie here, which- Yep, yep, yep... I hope you got one because- Yes, I did. Yeah... it's, it's pretty- Yeah, yeah... it's pretty cool. I was, I was right by a table when- Right?

[laughs] When, when the- When the flood gates opened, I'm like, "Mine!" Right. Hey- "I need one of these."... if you guys didn't win anything, just grab something from the table. Um, oddly- Not the fork- Oddly-...

or the handlebars or whatever that was. [laughs] All right. The second mention of Dave Lunz. Odd- oddly enough- [laughs]... he, he won his class somehow. Oh, yeah. Was, was he the only BMX bike in the class?

[laughs] Exactly. Still, he's a winner. Yeah, yeah. Dave, Dave Lunz is a winner. He was just on parade lap the whole time. So, um, we had our after party at Sprecher Brewery.

I had no idea they'd acquired so much property over there, because they own a significant amount of, uh, kind of older buildings that are now they're, whatever they're purposing them for.

But the upshot is they have so much land that we can have a fat bike race there. Yeah. That is, that was awesome.

Uh- I, I did some recon around the edge of the, the property just to kind of see- What might be possible and there's, it, it of course almost makes itself, but it's, uh- Yeah, thanks to Jesse and helping out all that.

I, I, I mean the, the Manitowoc, uh, Global Fat Bike Day, uh, Two Rivers, uh, George from Broken Spoke, that's become a huge event. He was saying that he thinks there's gonna be 400 people up there this year, so. Nice.
