Uh, there was some screening of some other, uh, more adventure-oriented one which I can't even remember, 'cause I wasn't thinking about it, but it's in some of the smaller theaters around the old world, but [clears throat]

They kind of discontinued them, which was why it was such a great idea to get them, because they weren't the 7 or 800 bucks they might've been if they were full on. Right, right, right. Yeah, yeah. Good thing.

Yeah, yeah. I, I picked up a pair for myself because, like, you know, you never know when you need gaiters. Exactly. Not for alligators, but for snow, actually. Oh, yeah, for sure. Right. Okay.

[laughs] And I picked up a couple fenders. Girlfriend ended up with a new fat bike and, hey, little bit of fender, fendering action. Right on. So it was well received. All done via you, good sir.

We had a play date, Mike, JK, Mike, Mike JK, JK Mike, and I had a- Had a play date a a week ago Monday. Well, past week ago, to, what, back then a little bit. Right, right.

Being a little bit, uh, on the end of that, right, it's like, "Hey, you sh- just see what you're gonna get." [laughs] Well, and the fun part was, uh, during the giving of said gifts, they...

She couldn't find it. [laughs] Ah. So there was, like, a whole house load, "No, it's around here somewhere. It's around here somewhere." And I don't know what the hell anyone's talking about.

They're like, "No, no, no, you can't..." Like, you know, if they told me what to look for, that kinda kills the gift. I don't know. [laughs] It, it, it- It wa- it was weird. It was very strange.

It was very surreal, where it was like, "No, it's around here somewhere."

[laughs] It was, like, left on, on, on my bike desk, but it was, like, one of those things that was, like, hiding in plain sight, that I didn't even see it. Nice. I didn't even notice it. Was it wrapped? No.

I don't know, you know, s- strong side when they first start going. But hopefully, uh, people's olfactory senses are not assaulted when they walk [laughs] in the front door. Yeah, they walk in, damn patchouli. Oh, fuck.

'Cause it's all northwoods-y and, and I don't think there's a tree up there that's not an evergreen, so. Oh, I kept throwing in, uh... Had a bunch of, um, boughs, evergreen boughs.

go out of order here and talk about [laughs] an event that CAMBA's throwing up, just 'cause, uh- Right. Yeah...

you know, they're, uh, they're up there in the Northwoods/Hayward area, and they've got themselves a, a race they got going up there called The Big Fat Race. January 19th,

2019, not '18, 'cause that would've been last year. And, uh, yeah, it's sort of a, apparently a leisurely, self-supported 14-mile race.

Well, I guess you could make it unleisurely if you're trying to win it, but- [laughs]... uh, you know. You know, it's going right out of Seeley there at the old Sawmill Saloon. Saloon.

My favorite place in that Hayward/ uh, Seeley/ you know, cable area up there. Oh, I, oh, I flaked out. I was thinking of Eagle for some reason. When, when are you- Yeah. It's, it's still north of here. Right, right.

But yeah, I'll have some link in the show notes maybe or something. But, uh, you probably already know about it if you're gonna go to it. And if you don't, they've got some snow up there finally, I guess. Maybe.

A little bit. Somebody- Yeah... somebody got snow? That's awesome. We had snow for about, like, three hours. I woke up la- yesterday, Christmas Day, seeing a white Christmas. I'm like, "Oh, I got my present." Yeah.

That was cool. And then wait for it. [laughs] Yeah. In literally two hours. Well, it was 40 degrees again today- Yeah, yeah, yeah... here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

And I think, what is it supposed to be, close to 50 tomorrow with a bunch of rain. Mm-hmm. Then it gets cold. Mm-hmm. And maybe some snow in the air that's going to disintegrate on the ground. Ah, sad.

I was looking forward to some snow on the 1st that originally the forecast was showing it, then it wasn't, now it's kinda like maybe. That'd be nice if we get a couple inches on our, on our annual use of a picture ride.

Yeah. [laughs] I will stay upright again this year, I tell you. Well, I've missed it the last couple years, what with n- not being in town and working out there in the Lost Wages, uh, Desert.

[laughs] Which, by the way, isn't bad to ride. There's some really good trails around there. Oh, I could imagine. I was, it was s- gee, I have to go back out there again, by the way, folks, on the 6th of the January.

And I'll be out there only for a couple of weeks this time. Not even. More like 10 days.

But, uh, do a little work, try to keep the shop doors open, go earn some real money, and then come back here and throw it out the front door.

And w- you know, we might put a show on the can just to make sure to sate your appetites. Well, if you guys are expecting a show every two weeks, we probably ought to do something.

Excellent. Um, what else we got? Oh, you know what else? We had another eventy thing. We had that Shell Track thing that went off that we talked about going to- Oh, yes...

that we actually went to, so we can talk something about it. Exactly. It was a good... That was a, that was a fun course. Yeah, it was- As, as we were gonna hijack [laughs] Right, right, right.

But- It was warm and no snow, but the nice thing about the Shell Track course is it, it is on a beach, and there is quite a bit of sand, and

you are pretty much gonna need a fat bike for a good portion of the course, whether there's any snow or not, whether it's 70 out or, you know, 20 below. So it's like a mile long. It's got some elevation.

It's got some, uh, some twisties and turnies, and then a nice fast section along the lake. And, uh, they do a bunch of different classes before we show up. Yeah.

[laughs] For, for the people that like getting up early in the morning and actually racing. Um- Yeah, I think, I think they went, uh, what was it? Beginner, beginner. Yeah, those guys.

Beginner, intermediate, advanced, and then, then to the relay. Yeah. Elite- Then to the relay... yeah, elite is the, the fast guys. Yeah. Hey, speaking of elite, we, uh, the elite guys were really fast. Yeah.

Uh, and, uh, we were lucky enough to get a brief interview with Cole House, who was the winner of said elite class, not quite lapping the entire field [laughs] but- [laughs]... coming dang close. Right.

Um, he's just a machine. So, uh, why don't we go ahead and s- stick that puppy in right here. Hey, Sven here at the, uh, Shell Track Fat Trike races, uh, with the elite w- class winner, Cole House.

Hey, Cole, how, how was the course out there today? Oh, it was great. Uh, no snow, so it's super fast. I actually brought studded tires, testing out these new, uh... Well, they're not new.

Everybody else had them except for me, but- [laughs]... the 27.5 Dillinger 4 studdeds. Uh, first time on 27.5 tires. They're fast, which they- How's it coming around this last turn onto the pavement with the studs?

I figured we're down in this little valley, and I figured there'd be some ice or something somewhere on the course, and I don't really like to mess around on the ice, so [laughs] I hear that.

I just put the studded tires on here and- All right. The advanced race-... everything was good... will begin soon... it rolled fast. It's only like 100 grams difference on the tires- Next race is gonna be relay two-...

with studs or- Yeah. Right on... 100 grams with tires, so I've got the Dilly 5s on my other bike, so I, I, I love the studs. 20 laps. Yeah.

I- Makes, uh, makes winter riding a thing of the funness- We will have one lap-... uh, especially on the lake when it gets all moonscapy and whatnot Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, the course is fast, dry, uh, some sweet...

There's a couple of greasy spots. Um, but other than that, it was all good. Um- What are you racing for this year?

Do, uh, Pete's Garage and Borealis, and then, uh, component sponsor FSA as usual, and, uh, Head Wheels, 45 North Gear and Tires. So, um- What do you got?

What are you looking forward to for, uh, the biggest races of the year? Oh, I don't know. I haven't even looked at the schedule yet. [laughs] It's like- [laughs] Just coming off cross season, so...

this is like, there's no snow yet, and we're thinking about fat bike racing. [laughs] Yeah, there's not even no snow yet. We can't really think too far ahead right now. Right on. Um,

I know the Borealis guys had mentioned something about Fat Bike Worlds. Um, think

probably do all the Snow Crowned races just 'cause there's a good variety of races, and, you know, unlike the other races, they're either all single track or they're all double track, or not even double track, like 40-foot wide ski trail, which I'm not a huge fan of.
